If your famous and you make a mistake,is it a waste of time to apologize for it?

It seems that if you screw up and your famous,even if you apologize and take responsibility you're still killed for it. Its as if it wasn't good enough and will never be accepted despite how much they apologize for it and try to make amends.Alex Rodriguez did what the majority of ballplayers were doing a few years ago.Yet he is getting raked over the coals for it. The dixie Chicks have never recovered from the backlash despite the apology they made.The point is that if your famous and mess up,dont apologize because it wont be accepted anyways.
